It's Field Day Time at Sandlapper! Let's really get moving today and try some of these fun activities in our first ever Remote Field Day.
Activity 1: Rock, Paper, Scissors Tag
You need an opponent. You need to stand in the middle of the playing area. You need to have a base located behind you.
Base 1 Player 1 Player 2 Base 2
Players play Rock, Paper, Scissors. Winner turns and runs toward base. Loser chases winner toward base. If Winner makes it to the base without getting tagged, s/he gets a point. If the Loser tags the winner before s/he touches base, Loser gets a point. Return to the middle and play again. First person to 5 is the winner!
Activity 2: Hockey Relay
You need an opponent or a timer. Grab something that can be a hockey stick (pool noodle, mop or broom with mom's permission only, etc.). Grab something that can be a ball or a puck. Place an object across the area to go around. Ready, Set, Go! Try to beat your opponent around the object and back to the start. If your opponent is the timer, go a second time and try to beat your score. How fast can you go?
Activity 3: Obstacle Course
You need some objects to be obstacles. You need an opponent or a timer. You need a start/finish. Ready, Set, Go! Try to beat your opponent or your score. How did you do?
Activity 4: Jump Rope
You need a rope or cord. If you are jumping by yourself, see if you can do at least five of the following tricks: Forward Jump, Backward Jump, Bicycle, 1 Foot, Frog, 360, Skier, Jumping Jacks, Legs Crossed, Criss Cross, Eyes Closed, Combinations
If you have a long rope and two people, try to do some long rope jumps. Try some Jump Rope Rhymes like Cinderella or Teddy Bear. Try to run in while the rope is turning.
Activity 5: What Time Is It, Mr. Wolf?
You need a couple of people to play this game. One person is Mr. Wolf. The other people line up side by side at the start and say, "What Time Is It, Mr. Wolf?" Mr. Wolf says a time like 3 o'clock. Players take 3 steps toward Mr. Wolf and ask again. Play continues until Mr. Wolf yells, "Dinnertime!" and chases the players back to the start line. If he tags a player, that player becomes Mr. Wolf for the next round.
Activity 6: Spell Your Name Workout
Find the letters of your name and do the exercises beside those letters.

D: 1 Minute Plank E: 20 Push-Ups F: 30 Crunches
G: 20 Squats H: 15 Burpees I: 1 Minute Wall Sit
J: 20 Crunches K: 30 Arm Circles L: 10 Burpees
M: 30 Push-Ups N: 1 Minute Plank O: 15 Squats
P: 30 Jumping Jacks Q: 1 Minute Wall Sit R: 10 Crunches
S: 25 Squats T: 20 Arm Circles U: 45 Second Plank
V: 15 Burpees W: 30 Jumping Jacks X: 30 Push-Ups
Y: 2 Minute Wall Sit Z: 20 Crunches
Activity 7: Ball Toss
You need a partner and a ball. Stand facing your partner. Toss the ball gently so your partner can catch. If s/he catches the ball, s/he will take one step back. If the ball is not caught, stay in the same spot. Then your partner tosses it to you. If you catch, take a step back. See how far apart you can get.
Activity 8: Long Jump
You need a start line. Standing with both feet at the line, jump as far as you can with no running start. Try again and see if you can jump farther next time. Challenge someone in your family to beat your jump.
Activity 9: Hula Hoop Challenge
You need a hula hoop and a timer. See how long you can hula hoop around your waist. Can you someone in your family beat your score? Try another part of your body like your arm or your knees. Who is the hula hoop champion in your family?
Activity 10: Trash Your Partner's Yard
You need some pieces of paper balled into baseball sized balls. You need an opponent. You need a way to play a song for time. You need to divide the area in half with a line of some kind. Ready, Set, Throw! as many balls of paper across the line onto your partner's side. Stop at the end of a song. Who has the cleanest side? That person is the winner!
Activity 11: You Make Up This One!
